Technical Details

HEAD ROOM - Possibly the most important feature in a horse trailer and certainly the most overlooked. When selecting a suitable two horse trailer for your horses keep the following measurements in mind: Stall length: from the chest bar back; you do not need more than 78 inches in which to contain the very biggest horse PROVIDED the clear head room measured directly forward from the chest bar is at least 50 inches. (78" + 50" = 128 inches total length)

There are a lot of trailers marketed today with 90-inch stalls but only 38 inches of headroom. This gives the appearance of offering bigger stalls, but with only 38 inches of headroom a big horse may have its chest up to 12 inches away from the chest bar and insufficient room forward of the chest bar to raise and lower its head. This is needed to keep its balance in a traveling trailer and to lower its head at regular intervals to clear its sinus. For horses 17+Hds. these trailers provide TOO MUCH stall length and TOO LITTLE headroom. (90" + 38" = 128 inches total length) Since the majority of horses are 14+ to 16+ Hds. even a 78 inch stall is longer than necessary for them. All BRENDERUP trailers offer 40 to 65 inches forward of the chest bar (to accommodate every sized horse) and individually adjustable Chest and Butt bar heights to accommodate most every horse without disturbing the head room which is so critical for the horses safety and comfort.

CHASSIS DESIGN BRENDERUP chassis design limits the amount of weight the trailer puts on the tow vehicle. This makes the required wheel-base-length (of the tow vehicle) unimportant thereby allowing you the freedom to choose from a very wide range of suitable vehicles. You are no longer limited to a big truck when trailering a couple of big horses.

AERODYNAMICS: It is the vacuum which builds up behind the trailer, particularly at speeds over 44.6 mph, which causes "OTHER TRAILERS" to sway in cross winds and when passed by high sided vehicles, the horses are unbalanced and start to stress. You and your tow vehicle probably do the same! The constant drag of this vacuum requires a big high torque powerful engine to pull the trailer out of its own vacuum. In attempting to minimize the effects of this swaying, "OTHER TRAILERS" are built with a heavy tongue weight (500 to 750 lbs. pushing down on the trailer hitch) to help stabilize the trailer. This in turn requires that the tow vehicle have a heavy frame and long wheel-base (the distance between the front and rear axle) to support this weight.

BRENDERUP eliminates most of that vacuum by sloping in the rear of the trailer and exaggerating the roof line. This removes much of the sway and therefore almost all of the stress on you and your horses. This lets you safely achieve your desired trailering speed with less engine power and a lighter vehicle.

Choose a BRENDERUP for its engineered ability to carry two horses of ANY SIZE with ease and comfort, while you continue to drive the vehicles which best suit your lifestyle. For "OTHER TRAILERS" you must have a high-torque engine and at least 120-inch wheel base - - - THAT MEANS A BIG TRUCK - - - PERIOD!

TOW VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
For BRENDERUP TRAILERS you need an engine developing a minimum of 120-horse power and a wheelbase as short as 93 inches. The degree by which your current vehicle exceeds these minimums is an indication of its suitability to accommodate a Brenderup. THAT MEANS ANY NUMBER OF SUITABLE TOW VEHICLES (a big truck is, of course, fine if that is your preference.) Examples of vehicles that will safely tow and stop a BRENDERUP - - in no particular order. Please remember that WHATEVER you choose to tow your BRENDERUP with, your horses are always guaranteed a smooth, quiet, cool and comfortable ride and you can enjoy the luxury of handling the trailer with ease and by yourself if necessary. BRENDERUP trailering is a blend of INNOVATION and COMMON SENSE and the proof of that is in the pulling.

The AMERICAN CONTRIBUTION to these unique trailers (the Baron Series even has a full US Patent to prove it #5,490,705) includes an adjustable dressing room in the front of an otherwise standard length trailer (Baron SL models). Walls individually constructed from Solid Phenol Resin panels (produced exclusively for Brenderup in the US) to withstand the worst punishment from both inside the trailer and from outside sources: immune from ravages of heat/humidity while always ensuring the trailer is effectively cool regardless of the outside temperature. Individually hand made, one piece, graded fiberglass roof for, maximum cooling in the SUMMER heat, and insulation from the coldest WINTER, shaped to guarantee the smoothest passage through the air for peak towing efficiency.

The EUROPEAN CONTRIBUTION. An INERTIA™ brake system which is speed and load sensitive, anti lock and the simplest maintenance, providing just the right amount of brake every time regardless of the load. Maintenance free wheel bearings never need repacking.

A reactionary independent torsion suspension automatically adjusts itself to the weight of your horse/horses so they are never over sprung and always enjoy a smooth ride. Flexible, removable stall divider with adjustable height Chest / Butt Bars, encourages the most stubborn horse to load. Rear prop stands to hold the trailer rock steady as those really big horses get on and off the trailer.
